Microdermabrasion
So what exactly is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical procedure that helps to rejuvenate the skin without any chemicals or lasers. This treatment option involves a mechanical skin exfoliation using crystals.
Microdermabrasion is a safe and gentle way to help rejuvenate, smooth and repair our skin. It is much gentler than chemical and laser peels.
Microdermabrasion is also a virtually painless treatment and can be combined with other treatments.
Microdermabrasion is suitable for treating the following skin conditions:
Prior to the treatment, you will have a 10-minute consultation to check your background and medical history.
After the consultation, your skin will be analysed by your therapist. She may use a skin scanner deepening on your skin. If you suffer from pigmentation, the scanner will show the location of the pigmentation and how deep it is.
Your skin will then be thoroughly cleansed with a suitable cleanser that will remove any traces of impurities.
Next, your skin will be exfoliated using a micro-peeling procedure. This procedure is performed with a handheld device that controls the flow of aluminium oxide crystals that are delivered to the skin’s surface.
These crystals are immediately vacuumed with the dead skin cells into the sterilised hand piece.
After the peeling is complete, an active C (an exclusive formulation that uses the well-known properties of Vitamin C) will be aligned on the skin. The Active C stimulates the skin, re–energises the skin cells’ activity, boosts collagen production and fights oxidants.
A mist of water will be sprayed onto the surface of the skin. The skin will then be treated with sonic micro-vibration and a controlled vacuum suction. This helps to eliminate toxins, break down the fatty deposits and plump the skin.
Afterwards, a pure vitamin extract oil will be applied to your skin. The vitamin oil helps to combat and prevent the formation of pigmentation marks due to its rich content of vitamins and fatty acids.
A suitable mask will be applied to the skin. For example, if you have sensitive skin, a mask M will be applied left on for 10 to 15 minutes. This mask will dramatically reduce sensitivity and leave you with a clear and smooth complexion.
At the end of the treatment, a derma block will be applied with a hydrating and powerful UVA/B and environmental protection cream.
Depending on your skin condition, you will require approximately 6–12 sessions to achieve the best results.
If you require further details on microdermabrasion I found a really good website called Skinabrasion which goes into detail about this subject.
